The history of the scientific school of Manufacture Composite structures
At the origins of the emergence and development of the scientific school "The problems of creating effective designs of aircraft from polymer composite materials (PCM)" in the Kharkov Aviation Institute. Zhukovsky was General Aircraft Designer academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine O.K. Antonov, on the initiative of which in 1963 the general R & D of introducing GRP into the modification of the AN-2M agricultural aircraft was started. An outstanding role in the conceptual formation of the scientific school of KhAI was played by the chief technologist (later the chief specialist of the Research and Development Institute of the KM), O.K. Antonova (now the state enterprise "Antonov") G.G. Canter. The creation and successful static testing of the first AN-2M aircraft in the USSR with a fiberglass fuselage in 1968 was marked by the opening in KhAI of a branch scientific research laboratory, the organizer and permanent scientific leader of which is Gaidachuk VE, professor, doctor of technical sciences, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine.
During these years, the main scientific directions were formed, which, according to the results achieved, occupy the leading positions in the world. On the basis of theoretical research, new design and technological solutions were developed for Antonov OK, Tupolev A.M., Mikoyan A.I., blades of several types of propellers, an AN-28 landing gear chassis, wing mechanization elements and other products. The very concept of "constructive-technological solution" (KTR) reflects the essence of the development of parts and assemblies with CM, was first formulated in the robots of the KhAI school and later became generally accepted. The research work on composite structures has always been complex and included the development of a structure, its manufacture, testing, for which a necessary material base was created in a rather short time.
Beginning in the mid-1970s, the scientific school tackled the complex problem of developing the theoretical foundations for the technical preparation of the production of aircraft structures from the PKM, which included the study of key issues of design and technological mechanics of structures with PKM, the consideration of the effect of operational factors on the strength and life of aircraft. The results of these studies received a scientific generalization in the doctoral thesis of VE Gaidachuk. "Theoretical Foundations of Technical Preparation of Production of Aircraft Structures from Composite Materials" (1980) and in Candidate theses Kirichenko VV, Pilnik AF, Portnoy VM, Karpova Ya.S., Starikova L.M., etc.
Simultaneously, experimental and theoretical studies were carried out to create new CTEs for the connections of parts from CM and CM with metals. These studies have formed in the scientific direction of metal-composite heterogeneous structures, which solve the problem of integrating metal butt junctions into the construction with PCM during its manufacture. The results of scientific research in this direction are reflected in the doctoral dissertation of the student V.E. Gaidachuk Karpov Y.S. "Principles and methods for synthesizing parameters of metal-composite heterogeneous structures of aircraft structures" (1993), as well as in PhD theses Korzhenevsky OV, Kopychko VP, Makarenko VO, Kachkara IV, Loktionova VD . and etc.
Моrе than 500 scientific articles, over 80 copyright certificates and patents, 8 doctoral and more than 60 Ph.D. theses, the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology for 1995 (in the authors' team with scientists of the UkrNIIAT, the Paton Institute and Research Institute of Russia), as well as the Presidential Prize for Young Scientists in 2007.
The scientific school KhAI not only helped to train highly qualified personnel for Ukraine, the CIS countries, Europe, the USA, China, but also became the basis for opening a specialty in the university for training engineers in designing, manufacturing technology and calculating the strength of structures from CM.
